Your Community Mental Health Clinic, Serving Families and Individuals
A trek is a long and challenging journey—much like life itself. Each person’s lifespan, from infancy to late adulthood, represents a unique and personal trek, shaped by experiences, challenges, and growth.
At Trek Counseling, we honor and assess each client’s individual journey through a life-span perspective. This approach recognizes that human behavior is influenced by developmental processes across biological, historical, sociocultural, and psychological factors from conception to late adulthood. By understanding the complexity of each person’s trek, we provide meaningful support and guidance tailored to their unique path.
Proven results that speak for themselves.

Michelle and Kaylem Arteaga founded Trek Counseling in July 2019 in response to Utah’s growing mental health concerns and the increasing need for accessible behavioral health services. Originally from Southern California, the Arteagas have been married for over 20 years and have raised their five children in Utah. Motivated by the mental health challenges impacting their community—particularly the shortage of available resources—they established Trek Counseling as a community outpatient mental health clinic dedicated to serving individuals and families, with a strong emphasis on adolescent and teen mental health. Since its founding, Trek Counseling has experienced significant growth and now operates several office locations across Utah County and Salt Lake County, serving as a trusted and essential mental health resource within the communities it supports.
"At Trek Counseling, we believe that life’s journey—while often challenging—is also meant to be meaningful and fulfilling. Every personal and family experience presents opportunities for growth, learning, and self-discovery. We view setbacks not simply as obstacles, but as valuable moments for reflection, resilience, and progress along one’s mental health journey. Recognizing that every individual’s path is unique, we are committed to providing support, guidance, and insight that empower individuals and families to navigate life’s challenges with strength, purpose, and hope."

Trek Counseling's Mentoring Program strives to enhance the academic, social, and emotional growth of youth in our communities, through meaningful connections with carefully selected adult mentors. We accomplish this by recruiting, training, and supporting mentors to support youth. We work in collaboration and partnerships with the State of Utah, Department of Human and Health Services, and our Utah School Districts.
